On my way to a meeting yesterday, the line into a parking garage was blocked by a man in a wheelchair very slowly shuffling his way with one foot across the entrance. I was amazed to see at least a dozen people pass him, oblivious to his slow struggle. After I parked I saw him approaching the next intersection to cross the street and asked if I could help him across the street. The crosswalk signal was barely long enough for me to wheel him to the other side of the street, so I asked if I could help him to his destination. He declined, but thanked me for my help. I wonder why I didn't hop out of my car to help him cross the parking garage entrance, but I'm glad I helped him get safely across the busy street.
